Moonstone Jewelry

Moonstone jewelry can be worn by anyone, but is loved by those who were born under the sign of Cancer. Moonstone is a feldspar gem and it received its name because of its luminosity and resemblance to a glowing moon. It is mined in igneous or metamorphic rock ans is an opalescent form of altrite.

In mystic lore moonstone jewelry was prized as a stone symbolizing emotional harmony and well-being. In India, especially, it is used as wedding jewelry because it is believed to bring good fortune and harmony to love and relationships. It is also believed to help the person wearing this jewelry to relax and enjoy life. Although the moonstone is most often seen in rings, it is available in all types of jewelry.

Moonstone jewelry does not have a brilliance usually associated with precious stones. It is actually very subtle and comes in a variety of colors – peach, gray, blue and rainbow – which cast a soft translucent light. The physical appearance of the stone often suggests spiritual qualities associated with it. Many people believe that holding the stone in their hand helps them to become calm and reflective. They use it in meditation by holding it their non-dominant hand or if they are lying down they hold it over their heart.
